Lovely accommodation surrounded by tranquil, rose- filled garden

The Cider Mill was a real find as a venue suitable for my elderly parents with limited mobility, but also offering great walks for me and my dog. Spacious and tastefully decorated , thoughtfully equipped, great location but best of all, surrounded by a lovely garden where we could simply sit and enjoy the tranquility, amongst the roses.

Thoroughly recommend

The Cider Mill is a beautiful cottage, amazingly fitted out with all you could possibly need. Three extremely comfortable beds with en-suites. The garden is very pretty plus the addition of a small field for the dogs to use. Property fully enclosed too, which is a bonus.

Monnington on Wye is a quaint hamlet, lots of walks from the door, plus many further afield. Oak Church Farm Shop is a short drive away, cakes are amazing and lots of vegetables/meat if eating in.

We visited Hay on Wye, which was lovely, albeit drizzly! We also did lots of longer walks further afield, also visited Woebley with its pretty black and white houses. We had a fabulous break, played lots of board games in the evening, which were supplied.

Quintessential English Country Garden close to the River Wye

We really enjoyed our Easter weekend staying at the Cider Milll. We chose the property based on the three main factors; the open bright open living space, enclosed garden (2 dogs) and location (easy to drive around but also walks from the front door) we were not disappointed. A really quaint, peaceful (amazing bird song each morning!), well equipped, and nicely designed place to stay. The recommendations for local walks and options for eating out were great!

Good character property in a quiet, peaceful setting. Very well positioned for Hay on Wye and Hereford , being midway between the two. High quality interior. All ensuite accommodation with quality fittings. Spacious layout of kitchen/dining/lounge area. Plenty of outside space including well maintained cottage garden. Plenty of parking space. Very comfortable beds, and pillows and gorgeous bed linen. Very comfortable settees in the lounge area. Well insulated – cosily warm on cold days. Great feature is the very spacious porch for hanging coats, removing boots, etc

We stayed here with our children and their partners and our dog. We had a fantastic time and will be going back soon we hope. Plenty of parking and facilities. The house is very well stocked and was beautifully cleaned on our arrival. The gardens are well kept, the gardener clearly is doing a great job too. Communication with the owner is very good and load of info is available for local and days out.

Wonderful

We have had a extraordinary week here. The weather has been hot, in Sept. So we have had breakfast and dinner outside. The garden is lovely and peaceful. We were without transport for a couple of days and the neighbours were very kind and helpful. The house is incredibly well thought out and equipped. As for the farm shop up the road…never found a better one and we have tried.

Cottage Details

The Cider Mill is a stone single storey cottage on one level, set in a mature fully enclosed garden. It has a lovely large paved terrace which is south facing and which has sturdy garden furniture and a webber BBQ.  You enter the property through a timber framed porch which doubles up as a boot room.

The Cider Mill can accommodate 2 – 6 people in 3 ensuite bedrooms. The beds are high quality super king zip and link beds and the linen is 400 count Egyptian cottage.   A good night’s sleep is encouraged.   The large open plan kitchen/sitting room is a joy.   It is full of light with 4 large windows and a pair of glazed French doors which overlook the garden.   It has oak trusses and a cathedral ceiling.   The sitting area wraps around the faux woodburner and Smart TV. There is an elm dining table from India to seat 6 which is next to the working kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with crockery and cooking utensils.

A timber framed building is behind the property and has a carport for one car plus a lock up laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer and extra fridge. A badminton set is provided for use in the garden. There is super fast fibre Wi Fi.

Location

The Cider Mill is reached down a tranquil No Through Road surrounded by acres of cider orchards.   The property is located on the edge of family farm and small hamlet. You approach the property down a tree lined drive of young pear trees.

A paddock wraps itself around the Cider Mill and there are views over the paddock and beyond over rural farmland. The River Wye is within 15 minutes walk.

Wye Valley Walk logo

There are numerous walking trails straight from the door including the Wye Valley Walk. Guests often walk to the Red Lion at Bredwardine and Garden Café at Brobury House and Gardens which takes about an hour and is a beautiful walk some of which is beside the Wye. There is a fabulous farm shop 1.8 miles from the house.

The River Wye is a 10 minute walk.  Canoeing, paddle boarding and fishing is available nearby as well as with 5 golf courses.  A visit to Brobury Beach near Bredwardine Bridge where the River Wye is accessible is always pleasurable.

There are lots of other leisure opportunities and outdoor activities to enjoy in the local area. See our activities page below.
